​Raquel's story

Consulting potential customers, and introducing and offering individual solutions – these are typical sales tasks. Once the customer on board, they need immediate support, troubleshooting and solutions to urgent problems. Raquel and her team handle both – and every day is different!

​“In my department we do not just offer a product, we offer an added value.”

Raquel knows first impressions are key to building good relationships. As a Marketing & Sales Manager for low and medium voltage products at ABB in Spain, Raquel leads a team that ensures a great first impression and then keeps the customer relationship on good terms. 

“Working in service is really special,” Raquel says. “If a customer runs into a problem, often quick answers are necessary, so you need to work in a hurry.” 

Though challenges are part of her daily life, she loves her job. “You have the chance to really help customers and create positive experiences,” she says. “We do not just offer a product; we offer an added value. And, in my last nine years it [her job at ABB] has never been boring.” 

Throughout her time with ABB, Raquel’s career has spanned many directions, including serving a wide range of products and solutions, working in different parts of Spain, and taking over different tasks and responsibilities. Now, in her current role, she oversees a team that handles various customer challenges. 

“Together, our goal is to build a strong relationship with the customer – from the beginning to the end,” Raquel says when describing her team’s dual role. “Our combined approach is very helpful here: On the sales side, we try to consult existing and potential customers and offer solutions based on their installed base and individual needs. As soon as they reach out to us with a problem in the daily operations, we switch our perspective and deliver, for example remote service. Our goal is really to offer added value.”

“Our team is characterized by an attitude of collaboration, mutual support and proactiveness to solve problems and handle the different situations.”

Working on a team and close customer contact are two of the things she likes most about her job. “ABB has always allowed me to learn and develop,” says Raquel. “And the company gave me all the support I needed during my pregnancy, which was very complicated and probably the hardest time of my life. Be it my manager, my colleagues or Human Resources – ABB has given me all the time and help I needed to take care of my child, and I am still very grateful for this.”
