What does your typical workday look like? What kind of projects and tasks do you work on?
A typical day starts with team discussions on the status of projects before moving on to new requirement meetings and customer cases. I work in Cyber Security Projects mostly concentrating on the ABB Control Systems.
What kind of development opportunities have you had in your role?
I joined ABB as a Management Trainee back in 2013 where I was recognized in my team for the support I gave to projects. Since then, I have progressed my way between different internal roles. Starting as Assistant Network Lead, I moved up to Network Lead and currently I am leading a Team for the Security Update Testing Project.
What is your favorite part about your role as an R&D Engineer?
As an R&D Engineer, I get the opportunity to learn new things about cyber security and have direct interaction with the Service Engineers and customers on the issues they face. Being part of the R&D team, I also have the opportunity to learn and provide my point of view on the new requirements that arise in cybersecurity projects.
What do you enjoy the most about the culture at ABB?
At ABB it’s very easy to approach any colleague irrespective of their position in the business and get to take on more responsibilities for technical work when we move up the ladder. We also have good opportunities to participate in rec-reational activities, such as sports, and cultural activities too.
What would you say to someone who’s thinking of applying to ABB?
ABB is a good place to work, there is a good work-life balance, especially in the R&D Center.
