What does your typical workday look like? What kind of projects and tasks do you work on?
I prefer to start my day a bit earlier and read all overnight emails. My workday is typically a series of meetings with various people – my stakeholders, peers, and my team. Through those interactions, we make sure that the ABB server hosting infrastructure is as stable as can be and we develop it according to business needs.
What kind of development opportunities have you had in your role?
I went through a complete career path from a service desk agent, to an IT administrator, then an administrative team lead. Then came opportunities for managerial positions, like the operations manager for one service, then a few more until I was offered leadership positions like the current one. All of these steps taught me different things and the entire path was a constant development on its own.
What is your favorite part about your role as a Service Owner?
It’s a lot about ownership, and it really makes you think and decide what’s next. It is like running a small company within a company. It gives you great experience with modern businesses and how they work.
What do you enjoy the most about the culture at ABB?
ABB is very much a European company in its culture. That means a lot of dialogue, a lot of democracy, and a lot of respect for others. Some would say there is a bit too much dialogue sometimes, but in the end, we can see that the ABB ship is always able to take the right direction. It is great to see how ABB can deliver value in times of economic change and demonstrate respect for our planet. And most of all, ABB is a great company for engineers!
What would you say to someone who’s thinking of applying to ABB? Don’t be afraid of corporate opportunities. On such a big ship, there is a place for anyone, and all skills are needed! And once you get in, you will not want to get out. 😊
