Idzar's 15-year journey within ABB started in 2008, when he first joined as a payroll specialist, leveraging his tax background. In 2015, an exciting opportunity beckoned him, one focused on compensation and benefits. Today, he holds the position of HR Services for Compensation and Benefits.
Idzar's career exemplifies ABB’s commitment to nurturing talent and providing growth opportunities. “While some may seek external prospects for career development, ABB provides the chance to do so within the company.” His responsibilities have expanded from managing compensation and benefits exclusively in Indonesia to overseeing multiple countries. “At first, this role presented its challenges, but it also allowed me to build a portfolio of experience managing different countries. Not everyone gets the opportunity to do so.” Looking back, Idzar recalls a time when confidence eluded him, but he did not let that hold him back. “An opportunity presented itself, I took it, stayed motivated, and embraced the chance to learn.”
But it was not just about his career; it was also about the team he leads. “All the managers I had were supportive of our development. They trusted our capabilities and we could take on leadership roles.” Within his current team, communication is vital, where biweekly meetings are held. “The team can ask questions and raise concerns freely. It’s also focused on ‘knowledge transfer,’ to ensure that new team members have a comprehensive understanding of compensation and benefits processes.”
As HR Services, their goal is to streamline processes across different countries. “We’re taking a broader perspective to enhance efficiency, not just in Indonesia, but globally.” While they have succeeded in streamlining some operations, it remains a ‘continuous process,’ as Idzar describes, highlighting his unwavering dedication and proactiveness.
Idzar may not label himself as exceptionally ambitious, but he finds a deep sense of accomplishment in his ABB journey. “My time at ABB has been fulfilling, where I've discovered my strengths and had the privilege of leading a team. Although I'm still on a path of continuous learning, I recognise that I’ve evolved significantly from the day I joined and will always be grateful for the myriad opportunities ABB has offered me.”
