The growing issue of climate change has started to severely impact various industrial sectors. At the same time, energy efficiency has become a business-critical topic. Energy costs are rising and the stability of the energy supply has become more questionable.  A study called "Sustainable operations through energy efficieny" has identified four closely interrelated challenges that industrial companies face in the transformation towards increased energy efficiency: the unclarity about what to do, the missing capabilities and resources, the misaligned incentives and lacking prioritization, such as the resistance to change. Our goal ist to develop concepts to drive energy efficient business towards a more sustainable world.
Therefore we have come up with two exciting challenges:
- The first one is the design of a digital advisory service, adapted to all the different regions ABB operates in. This service should use ABB's means and data to help customers make energy-efficient decisions when operating electrical power trains (variable speed drives and/or electrical motors).
​​​​​​​- The second challenge is to find out what KPI's extract the data needed to support customers and develop or improve a platform providing an efficient data analysis. Also how can we use this data to create an attractive business model? However, the potentials in the report this challenge is based on, are unlimited and we are open to any suggestions.
