Jess Galang

Portfolio Manager and InCube Expert Mentor

"We’re not just building products. We’re building futures. Sometimes customers don’t even know what they’ll need yet, so we scan the horizon, anticipate trends, and plant seeds of curiosity. That’s how innovation starts: not with certainty, but with vision and collaboration."

Jess Galang doesn’t just manage products. He crafts the future.
As a Portfolio Manager at ABB, Jess is part strategist, part connector, part visionary. His role spans from product inception to end-of-life,
but what drives him most is the challenge of anticipating what’s next.
“We’re crystal balling a lot,” he says. “Sometimes customers don’t even know what they’ll need yet, but we have to be ready.”

“It’s not just about what’s happening now. It’s about scanning the horizon and planting seeds for what’s coming.”

That mindset; curious, forward-looking, and deeply collaborative, is what Jess brings to the InCube Challenge.
With years of experience across industries and cultures, he’s learned that innovation doesn’t happen in isolation.
It happens when diverse minds come together, challenge each other, and build something new. He’s seen it in his own team,
where a 20-year age gap between the youngest and most senior member sparks unexpected ideas.
“Collaboration isn’t just about working together,” he says.
“It’s about mixing perspectives; age, culture, experience, and seeing what emerges.”

“You don’t need to have the perfect idea.
You need to be open enough to let others shape it with you.”

Jess believes in experimentation. And in the power of failure.
His early days in field service taught him that smooth projects rarely teach you anything.
“When things go wrong, that’s when you grow,” he says. “You learn under pressure, you adapt, and you come out stronger.”
That philosophy carries into his leadership style. He mentors his team not by giving answers, but by guiding them toward their own.
“You can’t lead everyone the same way,” he explains. “Some need space, some need structure.
The key is understanding people, not just processes.”

“We’re a tech company, but we depend on people.
Human behavior is an undervalued skill, and it’s what makes innovation real.”

For Jess, the InCube Challenge is a chance to pass that mindset forward.
He hopes students enter the cube with curiosity and leave with confidence. Not just in their ideas, but in each other.
“Listen. Challenge. Respect. That’s how you grow, as a team, and as a person.
