We believe in giving talented young people the chance to learn, grow and shape the future of science and engineering. The ABB Jürgen Dormann Foundation for Engineering Education (JDF)* is one of the ways ABB supports STEM education – through an independent foundation managed by ABB.

Since 2007, the Foundation has supported more than 400 students across 12+ countries, helping them continue their studies when financial barriers might otherwise stand in the way. Many scholars go on to contribute to electrification, automation, AI and sustainable industry — in a wide range of organizations.
Opening doors for future talent The Foundation supports students with strong academic potential who need help to continue their education. It’s one of the ways ABB, through managing the foundation, helps empower young people to take the next step in their journey. By ensuring financial difficulty doesn’t force bright STEM students to interrupt their studies, the JDF is focused on helping them reach graduation.
Learning from real world challenges The Foundation partners with universities across Bulgaria, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Ma-laysia, Poland, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey and Vietnam. Scholars may visit ABB sites, meet engineers and researchers, and see how their studies connect to real industry challenges.
Supporting the people who will power the future Whether it’s managing an independent foundation that helps remove financial barriers for those who need it, or supporting graduates as they transition from study to the workplace, ABB is committed to empowering early-career talent in different ways. We support students during their education — for example through industry linked thesis projects — and offer early talent programs that help graduates make a supported transition into industry.
