Elias Vidal Plaza, Global Early Talent Program Trainee, Mexico
Elías Vidal, a 24-year-old Mexican graduate with a degree in engineering and a minor in Business Administration, has always been passionate about economics and finance. After completing his studies, he sought an opportunity that would combine his technical background with his interest in business while offering professional growth and international exposure.

The Global Early Talent Program (GETP) at ABB quickly caught his attention. “The chance to rotate through different roles and countries, while working in a global company, felt like the perfect fit,” he explained. ABB’s strong reputation in robotics and automation, along with the prospect of working across departments and building a broad professional network, made the decision an easy one.

For Elías, the people have been one of the most rewarding parts of the program. From his very first assignment, supportive managers and a dedicated mentor encouraged him to “stay curious, speak up, and look for ways to improve how we work.” This environment, he says, has fueled both his professional and personal growth.

“Stay open to new experiences, ask questions, and embrace every learning opportunity.”

Our values are the cornerstone of our culture. They shape everything we do, guide our behavior and interactions with our colleagues, customers, partners and society as a whole, and help us realize our purpose. By living our four ABB values, we lead by example in how we do business and behave.
Throughout the program, Elías has learned the importance of adaptability when collaborating with colleagues from diverse countries and backgrounds. He has also focused on developing soft skills such as team management and clear communication, tailoring his message to different audiences and understanding their needs.

One of his biggest surprises upon joining ABB was discovering the breadth of career paths available. While he initially expected most roles to be in manufacturing or engineering, he soon realized the company offers opportunities in finance, marketing, digital innovation, sustainability, and more. “ABB is a great place to grow,” he reflects, noting the open, collaborative culture and the strong emphasis on learning and development.

Currently working as a Finance Analyst for the Robotics business in Västerås, Sweden, Elías finds motivation in the people around him. Being part of a team that values curiosity and continuous improvement keeps him engaged and excited for each new challenge.

For students considering ABB’s graduate programs, his advice is clear: “Stay open to new experiences, ask questions, and embrace every learning opportunity. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone – you’ll grow more than you expect, and you’ll meet inspiring people along the way.
